Webinar in English

All students,
PhD candidates

Webinars are free of charge and you do not need to be registered with the library. We will send you detailed instructions for connecting to the given webinar by email after the registration.

Do you need to find an academic journal or conference ideally suited to your research – one that also meets the requirements of your PhD, tenure, or promotion? This webinar will give you advanced tips on how to search for suitable journals and conferences in your field, how to evaluate them using various criteria, including citation metrics, and how to avoid predators.

Who should participate?

The webinar is designed primarily for PhDs and early-career researchers ready to publicize their research results. But anyone with an interest in scholarly publication is welcome to attend.

What topics will be covered?

We will show you how to use key databases (Web of Science, Scopus) and other resources to search for and evaluate journals and conferences with the aim of successfully sharing the results of your research. We will address topics such as:

  • Why not limit yourself to the Web of Science and Scopus
  • What kind of metrics to use (and how) to evaluate and compare journals
  • How to search for and evaluate conferences
  • How to recognize problematic outlets or even outright predators

The webinar will be conducted using ZOOM software.

Materials:

Slides and other presented materials will be available in NTK Moodle for Early Career Researchers .

By participating in the webinar, you agree that the session may be recorded and made available on NTK Moodle as an open educational resource.
