Doctoral Summer School 2022

The National Library of Technology (NTK) is proud to announce the first Doctoral Summer School for Early-Career Researchers. The event will take place on 16 - 17 September 2022 in Prague and is organized by NTK in collaboration with SciLInk Foundation in Netherland, University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague (UCT Prague) and Committee for Doctoral studies under the Student Chamber of the Council of the Higher Education Institutions (SK RVŠ).

Aims

The aim of Doctoral Summer School is to enhance skills of early career researchers in three important topic areas:

Research Project Management

Career Management

Leadership in Researcher

Competencies and skills in these areas are essential for your personal and professional development of early-career researchers, PhD journey and career advancements. They are transferable across various sectors helping to manage research projects with confidence, building self-awareness of what you want from a career and allowing you to lead research teams and projects effectively. Additionally, Doctoral Summer School provides valuable networking opportunities with your peers in the Czech Republic.

Training courses are designed and taught by active, experienced researchers.

Each participant will receive a certificate after the completion of the course.

Target group

Early-Career Researchers in the Czech Republic

Doctoral candidates (enrolled in doctoral training programmes)
Postdoctoral researchers (up to 8 years from their PhD)

The working language of the training sessions is English.

Participation Fee

Participation Fee: 40 EUR (Early Bird registration)

*The participation fee covers: training materials, meals during the event and attendance in the social programme (Boat cruise on Vltava river).

The Czech National Library of Technology (NTK) is between Thákurova, Studentská, Technická Streets and Flemingá Square (see on Google Maps).

Metro A to Dejvická: Get off at the Dejvická station and use the Šolínova/Vysoké školy exit.
Tram Stops: Lotyšská and Dejvická.
Bus Stop: Dejvická.
Drivers can park underground or use available street parking.
Bike stands are available outside the library

Trainers

Gábor Kismihók

Gábor Kismihók is the Head of Learning Analytics research group at TIB- Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology. He concentrates his research efforts on matching processes between education, labour market, and individuals. Gábor published his research in various peer-reviewed international journals and book chapters in the fields of Learning Analytics, Technology Enhanced Learning and Knowledge Management. In the past years he has been busy with leading various EU funded research projects (FP7, FP7 Marie Curie ITN, Lifelong Learning Programme). Additionally, Gáboris also a member of expert panels reviewing proposals for EU funding.

Brian Cahill

Brian Cahill works at the Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology (TIB) as Grant Manager of the COST Action CA19117 on Researcher Mental Health (ReMO). Additionally, Brian is a Member of the Governing Board of EuroScience and was previously Chair of the Marie Curie Alumni Association. He was a Marie Curie fellow with research interests focused on measurement techniques for droplet-based microfluidics. Currently, Brian acts as an evaluator of MSCA Individual Fellowships and other funding calls.

Marco Masia

Marco Masia is a scientist and entrepreneur. With a MSc in Chemistry and a PhD in Physics, he has worked as a Professor of Theoretical Chemistry for ten years at the University of Sassari. He has published many peer-reviewed international papers, participated in European projects, and collaborated with diverse research teams across the world. With a Masters of Business Administration from the Frankfurt School of Business, he has founded and managed a start-up, has managed a large non-profit organisation, and currently works as technology transfermanager at the University of Vienna. The training draws on his unique experience in research, business, entrepreneurship, and management, and is tailored specifically to researchers.
